How does a deep school-wide commitment to an artist residency program fully integrated into the curriculum impact students over time? Commissioned by Contemporary Craft of Pittsburgh, Out of the Box, examines the nature of and the long-term effects of their middle school artist in residence program at Pittsburgh Classical Academy. Uniquely, the residencies occur at every grade level and are integrated into different academic studies each year. We see fiber artist Tina Brewer working on memory quilts with 6th grade students, we hear from teachers, the principal, and high school students that look back on how the program impacted their lives.
