Cardio-Guide, 2005
Installation; wearable device includes, circuit board, pulse oxymeter, headphones
Just as Acousti-Guide tours give museum-goers a curatorial view of exhibitions, the Cardio-Guide offers viewers the opportunity to experience works of art in an exhibition guided by an awareness of their own visceral responses. Converting the electrical impulses of the heartbeat, detected by a pulse-oxymeter, worn on the finger, into an audible signal in headphones, the Cardio-Guide, worn on the wrist, allows the viewer to listen to the rhythm of his/her heart, while viewing an exhibition.
