(Hebrew translation: to engage in the needs of the community)
hand-appliqued wool and rayon felt
two 8’ x 3’ tapestries

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Congregation Dor Hadash in Pittsburgh, PA, I was commissioned to create a work of art. Tapestries seemed an ideal format for an itinerant congregation. Having worked with the Social Action Committee for many years, this is a very personal work that reflects the synagogue’s Reconstructionist commitment to the needs of the community.
